This month's recommended resource:

Your local public and/or college libraries!

While browsing my local library, I found an audio CD called: 100 Ways to Motivate Others:  How Great Leaders Can Produce Insane Results without Driving People Crazy by Steve Chandler, with Scott Richardson.  So far, I am finding it VERY helpful and highly recommend it!

Check libraries for a variety of books, audio CD's, DVD's, video and more on topics to fill your mind with ideas, motivation and know-how:
- Marketing, Sales and
   Network Marketing
- Small Business,
   Home-based

Announcements
A. Member News tab a feature of www.yourusername.miONEgroup.com site when you log-in to your back-office area.  It is the tab farthest to the right and contains updates that will help you in running your business.  Please check it often for important news, such as out-of-stock announcements, web-related or other timely information, etc.

B.  Representative Newsletters and Housekeeping Newsletters: these are now published by the company in the first week of each month.  They are found under 'marketing tools' and then Newsletters. Click on Representative Newsletters and you will see an expanded list and can even go back and read all previous issues!  Click on Housekeeping Newsletters to read those.  Remember to check for these in the first week of each month.

C.  Benefits of Business Protection (monthly order) and Credit Card Authorization Forms:
BUSINESS PROTECTION -- A SMART CHOICE.
by Cheryl Rounds, Executive, New Hampshire

Besides the obvious benefit of keeping your business active, Business Protection offers representatives additional advantages. If you are on Business Protection (also Autoship), you will receive a 20% discount on your 50 point order.  You will also receive free shipping.  If you are not on Business Protection, your discount on a 50 point order is only 10% and you will have to pay a $4.95 shipping fee.  On Business Protection, you get a 30% discount on a 100 point order -- without it your order will have to reach $600 retail value to receive this discount level.

Remember BP is a back up order.  It will only go out if you fail to order at least 50 points by the 23rd of the month (North American time).  You can order the 50 points for yourself or for a customer, as long as it is ordered in your name (via your rep account).

People often ask: "What should my business protection order be?"  There are a few things to consider here:  One is are you (and/or your family members) regularly using products that you may run out of such as InLiven.  Second is do you regularly have people asking you to order products such as toothpaste and deodorant for them.  And third, if you do a lot of shows as I do, or at-home consultations, are there certain items that you want to have on hand because they sell well at shows (my 'biggies' are toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, body wash, powder, body cream. lip balm and mascara).  In addition, you may want to have a few Testers on-hand or build up your Tester supply.  Those may be included in your monthly order and taken as a business expense for tax purposes (see IRS rules for more details).

Another consideration is the money commitment.  When you are getting started and wondering about making the financial commitment of a 50 point order each month, consider making your Business Protection order all sample sachets.  If you choose only sachets that are $.81 your BP order will only be $32.40 (this takes into consideration the 20% discount).  My recommendation is 10 of each shampoo, 20 conditioner and 10 body wash.  I also like to give out body cream samples but these are slightly more and will up the cost of your order though it's still less than full-size products.  A regular order with full-size products will vary at approximately $60-65 per month at the 20% discount.

One more thing: being on Business Protection is a smart policy.  People in your downline will follow your lead.  As a sponsor, for every three people that you have personally sponsored that are on Business Protection or Autoship, you receive a $70 bonus.  So to get your downline their best discounts and to increase your earnings from the loyalty pool, make sure you tell all of your downline the benefits of being on business protection.

And, finally, you won't miss out on any bonuses you are due in case you forget to order one month... Your BP is an 'insurance' so you receive all funds you have earned in your business.  What's more reassuring than that?

[Note: In order for your BP or Autoship to be in effect, you must mail or fax in your Credit Card Authorization Form to ONE Group.  Even if you plan to order manually each month by the 23rd (this is recommended), your form must be on file due to Australian legal requirements.  Please see your sponsor with any questions on this policy.]

Organic Living Seminars
With co-director Alf Orpen completing a whirlwind speaking tour, I thought it appropriate to follow his suggestions and create a forum for news, ideas and resources that the entire team can participate in.  If you haven't already subscribed to the Google Group 'ourorganicbiz', I highly recommend you register or e-mail me and I will 'invite' you to join.  That forum is hosted primarily by Candy Loya in Ohio, with assistance from Cheryl Rounds, based in New Hampshire and Joyce Dunn in Texas.  It has become a way to stay connected on a daily and weekly basis, so I hope you will become a part of it, if you haven't already registered!

With this first edition of the OrganicPro Team News, I wanted to create a way to acknowledge your hard work -- your "constuction zone efforts" -- as you construct your business and your future... and recognize new members and any promotions each month.  I invite you to submit testimonials, whether your own or your customers, and questions, suggestions and more!  I will summarize questions and answer them anonymously so don't be shy!!  Get your questions answered.

Alf Orpen is completing his Organic Living Seminar tour in many cities across the globe:  from New Zealand, to Canada, the United States, Mexico, over to the United Kingdom and Japan on his way back to Australia.  Everyone who has been fortunate enough to hear Alf speak this time or on a previous visit will agree his words are simple yet extremely powerful.

Below, I have summarized his seminar and, in the next issue, I will summarize the Training given by both Alf and Ron Tracy during their stop here in Washington, DC.  [Note:  It is expected that the directors will facilitate speaking tours at regular intervals, so if you were not able to make it to a seminar yet, hopefully you can join one during the 'next round' in the coming year and beyond!]

Notes from Alf Orpen's Organic Living Seminar

Activism through business.  Economic power in our world is now comprised of output from both corporations and  nations.  According to Alf, 51% of economies come from companies, while 49% are created by nations.  Using business as a vehicle for change and activism for your ideals, you can have a tremedous impact on the future of the planet.

The modern Organic Movement began with the publication of Rachel Carson's book, Silent Spring, which documented the poisoning of birds and wildlife by pesticides originally thought to be "perfectly safe."  The suffix -icide means to kill or murder in Latin.  Many synthetic chemicals used in agriculture today were created from those developed during World War II to kill or disable people.  There was a huge surplus left over and companies decided a small amount would work to kill pests and weeds and this is how the industry grew, along with little regulation by governments.

Alf discussed how nuclear fallout is the same as pesticide use -- a cell exposed to radiation either mutates or dies and a cell exposed to synthetic chemicals either mutates or dies.  The only difference is how long this process takes.  For chemicals, it can take a few years or even 30 years or more to see the damage while an atomic bomb's effects are seen instantly.

Quoting David Susuki, Alf emphasized we can create change by "withdrawing consent" by using our purchasing and economic power to send a message.  If the thousands of people investing in mutual funds, for example, were able to shift their investments into companies that offer sustainable business practices, eco-friendly products or services, then we could see massive investment into these sectors.  It is similar with ONE Group's vision, not to mention already achieved goals.  As representatives/customers, we are shifting our own purchases and helping others to buy organic, sustainable products.  This creates a momentum towards environmentally-sound enterprises...and healthier people too!

For those who haven't heard, Alf announced that the company is now carbon-neutral!  They are using wind to power their manufacturing facility, planting native trees, using biodegradable peanuts for packaging and more, to offset the carbon output used to produce the products and ship them around the world.  [Check out the latest November 2006 Representative newsletter to see more details on these improvements!]

In 2000, Deborah Cory-Sletchta did research on combinations of herbicides and fungicides, imitating what people would be exposed to on a daily basis if not eating organic foods.  She observed rats and mice develop brain damage and Parkinson disease symptoms, when exposed to one of the most widely used herbicides, Paraquat, and a common fungicide, Maneb.  This was one of the first tests to see how a combination of these chemicals affected test subjects.  Most studies are done using one item, once per day, but in the real world, people and animals are exposed to several synthetic chemicals, multiple times per day.

What is Organic?  Certified Organic?  What is Natural and how does the cosmetic and personal care industry define natural?  [These are explained in detail in Narelle's calls, accessible from Member's Back-Office -- please listen to her training there if you are not sure of the answers!  Check out her article in the Newspaper too.]

Genetic Engineering or Genetically Modified Organisms:
According to Alf, the US government, along with huge agri-business corporations, is running a huge experiment here.  Over 70-80% of the corn and soybeans are GE or contaminated.  We do not know the health effects, environmental effects or future issues that may be associated with GE crops.  The government of Japan is not allowing GE soybeans from the US into their country, because they do not want to experiment on their own youth!

Some films on these topics were recommended by Alf and an attendee:  "Unnatural Selection" documentary;  Future of Food documentary;  Seeds of Deception.

Editor's idea:  You may want to organize film screenings/educational workshops where you could show these types of movies.  This is a wonderful way to get people together, as one strategy for building your business.

For a few synthetic chemicals, Alf gave more details.  He explained that Sodium Laureth Sulfate (from coconut oil), is a mix of salt plus sulphuric acid. To get the final product, one must use an ethoxylating agent, which has shown to cause cancer.  So even though an ingredient may be 'derived from' coconut oil, he dared a participant in a previous lecture to eat 2 lbs of SLS, while he would eat 2 lbs of coconut oil.  Of course, the scientist/attendee declined his offer because he knew he would die from eating SLS.  In contrast, Alf would certainly survive an 'overdose' of coconut oil.

In conclusion, Alf spoke about the power of nature and its inherent knowledge and how we can still move 'forward' by studying nature and learning from it.  He described the work of Dr. Paula Baillie-Hamilton on how synthetic chemicals are making people and animals fat.  He then gave his vision of the future of organics and how ONE Group and all of us fit into that picture.  He gave a 10 minute overview of the multi-channel enterprise, organic trends, timing and the educational-based nature of ONE Group's direct selling foundation.

He stated that sales of organics is growing at over 23% per year worldwide and is a $52 billion dollar industry, and said there is the potential for all agriculture to convert to 100% organic within 20 years!!  Some European countries have committed to more organic agriculture, including Belgium which has declared its agriculture will be all organic in ONLY 2 years!

Please send your testimonials, questions, ideas, favorite books, CD's, DVD's or coaches and more by Dec. 12th for the December edition. Thanks!
A special note to thank each and every one of you for all your efforts to  achieve your 'why' and help yourselves, your families and the planet to go organic.  You are each truly amazing and I am grateful to have you on my team!  I could not have reached Managing Executive without you and that is the beauty of this enterprise.  We allow ourselves to attain our goals and dreams by helping others do the same as well as helping shift the world towards a more sustainable, green and healthier path.

With warmest regards,
Ronit
